Watching your kid compete at marching band State finals on Ford Field- priceless.
The Cedar Springs Marching Red Hawks qualified for State Finals! Woo Hoo! This meant a trip to Detroit to perform and compete at Ford Field House- where the Detroit Lions play football. Clint and I didn’t ride with the band – they were gone for a full 24 hours on the bus. Our wonderful Auntie Pam came over so Caelun could sleep in his own bed- we got back at 1 in the morning- and we drove the 3 hour trek. Our friend and fellow band parent Kris Rice came along to keep us company. You know you love your kid when you drive 3 hours each way to watch a 15 minute performance of something you have seen at least a dozen times- but as Clint was quick to point out- we had never seen it at Ford Filed. I will tell you seeing your kid strutting her stuff out in the middle of the huge stadium was pretty darn amazing. The band came in 7th in the state- 3 places higher than last year- and we all couldn't be more proud. Yeah for Abbi and Yeah for the marching band- because as we knew all along- THE BAND IS THE THING!
The Cedar Springs Marching Band lining up- waiting to take the field.
Getting their marks.
Here we go!
There is our Abbi girl!
Kyle is one of the tuba’s but it is hard to tell because the bell of the tuba hides his face.
There is Meagen- in the middle.
There is Levi with his trumpet.
That is our Abbi girl with her back to us holding on the gold ribbon.
Making the Celtic knot.
And they are finished.
Waiting for them to come out.
Stacey along with other band parents.
Yeah Abbi!
Kris and Meagan after the performance
Yeah for State Finals!
