The marching band season came to a close with State Finals and all that was left was to celebrate and reflect on a wonderful season. This celebration and reflection were accomplished with a banquet. The kids were able to have some fun “hang out” time and the adults involved had an opportunity to reflect on all the kids had learned and how much they had accomplished during the season. We all enjoyed the food and the slide show of pictures from through out the season. The directors and advisors gave some wonderful commentary and we closed the season all enjoying a review of the kids successes.
Kids being kids
Abbi has super powers- she can make gourds levitate.
And then there was food.
Meagen is enjoying it.
Bryar found something yummy as well.
We say hi to Stacey who was helping to pour drinks earlier.
Then it is time for speeches and accolades.
Mr. Eary-a long time band parent who no longer has kids in the band but still volunteers-gave a very moving speech about each years band having a personality.
The kids listening- at least sort of which is pretty good for teenagers.
The leadership team is recognized.
Beth one of the drum majors is told that along with the rest of the band she and they were like golden retrievers. His analogy was intended in a positive light – in that the band was eager to please and dedicated. It did get a good laugh.
Levi was part of the leadership team- he is in the blue and white shirt.
Beth tells everyone how proud she is of them.
We had an interesting bit of rap performed.
The visual unit was recognized.
As you can see it was a pretty full house.
Kris and Meagen enjoy the moment.
Abbi and a fellow band member give the “momarazzi” a smile.
It was a good evening. Yeah for the band because as we all know. The band is THE THING even if they are golden retrievers.
