A road well traveled

I want to open by saying I think their is something on the “Y” chromosome that is programmed to like large machines with wheels. At our house we call it the “truck gene” Caelun clearly has a dominant form of this gene and luckily my dad shares it. We had been hearing all summer that the city had gotten a matching grant to fix the badly deteriorated road that runs in front of our house and just before the end of summer the construction folks came. My dad came over as well and we had a grand time. The first day of construction it poured down rain so we just watched it from the windows. Luckily for us we have great big double windows that face the street but I was reminded again why I am a teacher. Digging up old crumbling asphalt in the pouring down rain did not look like fun to me. Bless the folks that do that work. The second and third days of the 3 day project it was sunny and beautiful and we had literally “road side seats” We actually pulled up lawn chairs and watched the road be built.

These first pictures are taken through the window in the rain.

Later the rain cleared up but you can see how steamy it got when the sun came out. Caelun and my dad Bob enjoy the view from the sidewalk.

Yea hurray for our brand new road and a big thank you to the men and women who do the heavy lifting to take care of our infrastructure. A little boy and his grandpa enjoyed watching you work.

We always watch the 'Ice Road Truckers' there is something about the lads and lasses in their big rigs! I hope you don't go speeding now you have a nice new road!
