The theme for the summer reading program was “Make a Splash at Your Library”. As a reward for all the effort all the kids put in to reading books Donna Clark or amazing librarian here at the Cedar Springs Public Library puts on a celebration at the end. There are prizes, food, games, and this year in keeping with the theme there were water slides, sprinklers and … a dunk tank where you could dunk the President of the Garden Club, The Director of Parks and Rec. or … City Council member – yours truly. It was a HOT day and I think I had the best seat in the house. I got thoroughly soaked, Caelun had a grand time with all the water and bubbles, and the kids all had a grand celebration as a reward for all those books they read. Come splash around with us- I promise we won’t get you wet.
Bryar seems quite confident he can dunk me…
… and he did.
Next up to pitch is Cole…
…and he got me too.
More kids with good aim…
And more dunkings.
Some of them had some help.
I got dunked so much they had to top off the tank from all the water that splashed out.
Then more dunkings…
…and yet more…
…and more…
…and finally my shift was up and my dear friend Chris the Pres. of the Garden Club – which I am a member of- was ready to her turn. I came home and changed to take Caelun around so he could enjoy the fun of the reading celebration.
Me with one of my favorite dunkers- Cole.
Chris is waiting and ready…
…and darn if those kids don’t have good aim.
Here she is again…
…SPLASH!
After I got home and got dry it was Caelun’s turn to get wet. The Cedar Springs Fire Dept. was on hand to help with that very thing- do you think Bryar is ready to join?
There was lots of food- cookies, ice cream, pop corn, and drinks. Caelun LOVED the ice cream – big thanks to the folks at 7 Up and Family Fare that donated the food and beverages.
The bubbles were Caelun’s favorite.
The rest of the water features were pretty good as well.
The playground equipment at the park was fun too.
I got to see my friend Sarah’s baby Sydney.
Sarah and I congratulated our friend Chris on surviving the dunking.
My friend Debbie with her boys Blake and Billy were also in attendance.
Did I mention the bubbles were the biggest hit with Caelun?
Hope you enjoyed your self and didn’t get to wet… my camera clearly did as you can see from the blurs in the pics. towards the end.
