As we started our arc back towards home we took a last gander at the Green Mountains, stopping along the road to take pictures in route to the ferry across Lake Champlain. On the far side of Lake Champlain we would leave Vermont and enter Up State New York once again. The folks funning the ferry were very friendly and it didn’t even cost us anything. Apparently the bridge across Lake Champlain that has stood for 95 years had failed and needed to be rebuilt. Until it is rebuilt the highway service was picking up the tab for the ferry. Caelun at first wasn’t to sure about driving our van on to a boat but he enjoyed it when we pulled away from the dock. It was another beautiful day and the lake was lovely. Come take a ride.
Our last view of the Green Mountains.
I just love the contrast with the sky.
At the dock waiting for the ferry.
Caelun looks a bit unsure as the ferry pulls up and we pull forward.
Loaded on the ferry.
Looking back.
Forward to New York.
The cranes in the distance are working on the bridge that was out.
Nothing like the wind in your hair on a sunny day on the water.
“WELCOME TO NEW YORK” the sign says.
The ride took about 12 minutes.
I think the boat captain has to have some real skill to guide the boat into that dock.
All clear to drive off the ferry.
Good bye Lake Champlain, the Green Mountains, and Vermont.
