There is an old adage in perennial gardening that the first year they sleep, the second year they creep, and the third year they leap. The climbing roses had been in their current location for 7 years at the time of these pictures. I am not sure if there is a ‘leave the Earth and take flight’ category in the saying but I think we might need to add it for these roses. We actually have people we don’t know stop and get out of their cars to look at them. You have got to love a guy that not only promises you a rose garden but brings one with him when he moves in and oh what glorious roses they are.
They are tipping over the trellises on the sides of the garden.
To my husband’s joy this year they reached the top of the arch he had bought specifically for his William Baffin roses.
