“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.” ~Erma Bombeck
That pretty much sums it up. The town next to our little berg – Sand Lake – throws a party every year for the 4th of July. Think carnival, cotton candy, and elephant ears all topped off with fireworks. We generally hang out in the pool most of the day and then go for the fireworks. Abbi went and did the carnival chaos with some friends and we met her at the end. It was a nice day to celebrate the founding of our country and the joy of Summer.
Abbi did her nails for the occasion
Caelun is ready to roll.
Off to get a good seat.
And here they are. A pretty good display for small town America.
