This last weekend was state finals for forensics. I had two who qualified- an extemper and an impromptu 9/10. The state topic for impromptu was China and this young lady had actually been to China so I think that helped some. The competition was held at Eastern Michigan University. Clint took a personal day on Friday to come along with Caelun. Abby decided she didn't want to come, so we loaded up the three of us, the two competing kids and three of their team mates who had landed with in spiting distance of qualifying and headed out for the two hour drive. Clint ever the travel agent for my life found a great hotel with a fridge and a microwave in the suites for roughly $90.00 We got the kids the cheaper double bed rooms and us the suite and had them all come to our room to eat. Of course we had to stop at the local Wal-Mart to stock up on ramen and mac-n-cheese first. You haven't lived until you have been in a Wal-Mart 20 minutes before close with five teenagers and a one year old. The weather was wonderful for the most part and their spring is probably a week ahead of ours so it was nice to walk around the campus while the kids were competing. Our impromptu young lady actually managed to break all the way to semi-final round which puts her in the top 12 in the state. Pretty cool! We didn't stay to get our ballets or her plaque because prom was that night so we had to hurry home. All in all it was a nice way to end our season.
