Forensics Night

Forensics Night is and opportunity for the kids to have fun and show off a bit all of the hard work they have put in all semester. Friends and family come to watch, there are no scholarships or trophies on the line, and other than extemp. and impromptu no one is keeping time. It is a bitter sweet moment for the seniors because it is their last time to perform as high school students. It is always bitter sweet for me as well.

The hosts with the most, kick off the evening.

Impromptu Speaking
In this category the speaker has to give an educated opinion on an article they have never seen. They have six minutes from the time their eyes hit the page to read, prepare, and present their speech. The speakers who win use about forty five seconds or less to prep. They know the general topic. Each year there are three topics- this year they were: The election, education and technology, and China. This editorial is asking "Should China amend their one child policy in light of the recent earth quake?"

For fun this young lady also did a goofy impromptu chosen by one o our hosts from The Onion. " Isn't it suspicious that Mylie Syrus and Hanna Montana are never in the same place?"

She was a state finalist this year

In this event the speaker draws a question and then has thirty minutes to prepare a seven minute speech- with source material.
This question- " Are Disney classic animated movies good family entertainment?"
This amazing young lady also does DI and was a state finals debater. Oh yeah there was that second place scholarship for Knights of the Round Table
She is graduating and will be greatly missed

This is a revision from last year. This piece qualified to state finals.
We didn't have a Forensics Night because I was having a baby- early.
Caelun was born the week between regionals and states.
He was timed to be after state finals - so much for planning.
