Flowers To Swap

Garden Club Buddies- these are some of the flowers we have to swap. I will post them as they come into season and you can come over and get what you want. I still have irises not open. I will post more colors as they open. I may post some pictures for my own benefit that I don't have enough to swap- to document what I have. In that case I will note I don't have enough yet to trade, other wise come on over. By the way if anyone knows any of the specific names of any of theses please let me know.
Two tone burgundy only a few
Standard lite purple iris
lots of theses
Reddish maroon iris- more red than the picture shows
only a couple extra

Pale yellow iris- lots of theses

Pink iris and tall phlox-lots of both

Purple and white variegated -limited of this one

I have quite a few but they are small

Memorial Weekend Part III- more visitors, and hanging out

Sunday we had Clint's dad and step-mom Mary over for lunch to belatedly celebrate Mother's Day. Did I mention we rarely do anything on time around here? I didn't get pictures of them either. I did take some pictures of the kids Sunday morning while we were all hanging out after getting to sleep in. Remember sleeping in at our house means seven to eight . I am not sure if Abbi didn't realize I was taking pictures, or if I am just wearing her down, but she didn't fuss, run, or stick her hand in the camera. Maybe she wasn't quite awake. She is such a photogenic young lady it is nice when I can get her picture. I was also trying to play with my camera and back light. Some of the pictures turned out kind of neat I think. You be the judge. That is Miss Kitty in the pictures- she just has her summer hair cut.

Memorial Weekend Part II-Opening up the cottage with Dan and Amy

My parents came over for a belated Mother's Day lunch. Some how I didn't get any pictures of them. I guess it was all the hurrying home from planting the planters to make lunch. Memorial weekend is always when our friends Dan and Amy open up their cottage on Brady Lake. It is also Grace- their daughter's birthday. After lunch with my parents,we went and brought Grace a rock painting kit that all of the kids utilized. Amy got a "new" boat and they gave us a tour of the lake at sun set. We came back for a fire and the kids toasted marshmallows. Some of you will remember Dan and Amy from our wedding. Dan was best man and Amy was chief "gofer" - she really pulled things together for us. Amy teaches with Clint at KCTC. She is the person who let him know about the teaching position there.

Planting the city planters

"I don't garden because I like to. I am an old southern woman. We are supposed to wear old funny hats and grow vegetables in the dirt. Don't ask me why- I don't make the rules." Steel Magnolias.
We did so much already over this long weekend that it will take several posts and several days to catch up. Saturday morning Abby and I went and planted flowers in the city planters with The Garden Club. The planters will be moved to line main street. We had to hurry home to make lunch for my parents coming over.
