May 2008 book - The Life And Times Of The Thunderbolt Kid

Our Club has read this author before- A Walk In The Woods and The Lost Continent. Clint and I have also read, Notes From A Small Island, and A Short History Of Nearly Everything. Bryson is acerbic and funny. The club gave it four and a quarter stars. I was on the high end of this average. Clint liked it even a bit more than I did. In many of Bryson's books it is as if he gets tired of the subject before he completes the book. Usually the last fifty pages or so are a bit whiny but this maintains the humorous tone. All in all a good read even if you didn't grow up on Iowa in the nineteen fifties.
