Caelun's Room

We got Caelun's room done in time for his birthday. He is now to a point where he only wakes up once or twice a night so it seems worth it to move him in to his own room. His room used to be Clint's office. We also had to patch the plaster in the ceiling, as well as painting. We had water damage from when we took the roof off to put on the addition. We started the renovation during spring break and finished it just before Cae's birthday. My dad came over and kept Caelun occupied so we could plaster. It was a huge help. Clint then did baby duty and the taxes while I sanded and painted. How he did that I do not know. I definitely got the better end of the bargain. I still have to make the curtains, move his armoire, and we have some odds and ends to do. He slept in there for the night last night for the first time. I had to go feed him at 3 and again at 5. I am told the sleeping thing will get dramatically better when he hits 20lbs. Hopefully that happens sometime before he goes to college.
Dad came to baby sit but while Cae took a nap
he couldn't resist helping with the plaster
The plaster goes on
It is plastered and drying
Time to sand
We will see how well we made it match

time to paint

You know we have low ceilings upstairs if I can reach with out a ladder
Plaster dust -it is like a facial right?
BTW, don't let them talk you into grey primer.
This is the first time I have done it and it was awful.
Use KILZ or, if you don't need that level of coverage,
just use an extra coat of the paint you are putting on.

The grass took the most work to get right.
The crib from Grandma Del Medford, and the
sheets with bugs
tone on tone for the sky
This is probably where the armoire will go.

We did a light sand and a fresh coat of polyurethane on the floor. These are the original 200 + year old wood floors. The base board is earth brown and we plan to add worms and such.

A praying mantis stencil.
We have a bunch more bugs to do, but
we want to see where the furniture goes first.
grasshopper in the grass
dragonfly in the sky
butterfly in the sky
a ladybug climbs the grass
We have three sets of these bugs, courtesy Grandma Mary, Aunt Linda, and Aunt Ardis
All in all we are pleased with the result of his room.
