Egg Hunt 2008

Six days late but with much better weather, mid-forties and sunny, we held our annual egg hunt at the farm. We had ten kids hunting this year- the most we have had in the ten plus years we have been doing this. Abbi didn't hunt. Alas she is to old, or so she says, but when you quit hunting you have to start hiding and she did a great job with that. In general it was great chaos and fun, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I know I sure did. There are an inordinate amount of pictures of my kids, but it's my blog so I guess that is how it works. I should probably briefly explain our version of an egg hunt. All of the eggs have a number written on them. Each child is assigned a number and can only pick up the eggs with their number. This way eggs can be filled according to the corresponding child- boys don't get hair ribbons, and the hiding difficulty level can be adjusted according to each child's capability. Thus Clint took great relish in hiding almost fourteen year old Levi's eggs so he had to both climb and dig for his eggs. We did fifty-five eggs for each of the bigger kids. Two of the little ones got twenty-five, and thirty-five and Caelun got ten. My dad cooked his amazing spread- chili, potatoe salad, bean salad, sloppy joes, ham, tossed salad, chips, cookies ect... Dawn was integral prep cook, egg stuffer and hider. Needless to say we all slept well that night. Dawn loads up the wagon with the eggs to be hid

Abbi starts the hiding
She is a creative hider
Clint tries to come up with hard places for Levi
Dawn takes some of the mid range difficulty
Clint hides Levi's eggs- I wonder who will have more fun?

Abbi is a great egg hider
She tries to figure out how tall Cait and Emily are
Surely they will see it here
The eggs are hid and the hunt is about to began
Everyone lines up for Grandpa Bob to ring the bell to start the hunt

Levi shows off his bunny egg
Billy found an egg
Blake puts an egg in his bag while mom Debbie watches
Hunter finds an egg in the old willow tree

Abbi picks up an egg that was left behind and checks the number

Cait sees an egg in the tree. I wonder whose egg that could be?
Levi's of course, up he scrambles while Cait watches
I wonder who had to climb to put it up there?
Clint and Caelun look for eggs
Cait is having fun

Look at my eggs!
Emily has a bag full
Billy also has a bag full
Carrie helps Hunter and Bryar

Kris and Megan "egg" the hunters on while Cait brings up the rear

Bryar looks while the eggs elude him

Blake sneaks up on one

Megan- I found one!- says Cole

See- my egg!
Cole says look what I have!
Abbi says I will help you

Really?
You can find an egg
Abbi you are so cool!

I will hunt eggs too!
Almost...
Got It!
on to the next egg...

Mine!

Pretty eggs
so many eggs
Abbi you were right- I did it!
Hmm- they still don't taste very good
Did you say it was the giant rabbit again?

Bryar has lots of eggs
Dawn organizes empty eggs in the back
Cole has a balloon
Look at all of Hunter's eggs
Clint feeds Caelun while Levi and Bryar think
they would like something a bit more substantial
like hot dogs
I don't think they were thinking of their thumb

Emily shows off her eggs
Emily sorts her goodies
Kris and Megan enjoy Grandpa Bob's cooking
Caelun checks out his goodies
Blake enjoys his lunch and his baloon
while Cae sneeks up on him

Tow, it's like reading a picture book......with words. If you scroll through real fast, at some parts you can almost see people move, lol.

n_n We used to do an egg-hunt at my Grandparents house (Easter celebrations doubled as my grandmothers birthday) until my....freshman year I think.
The bigger part for us, was boiling and decorating the eggs the day before..each of the kids got two dozen to decorate..though with 4 of us plus the myrid of clan cousins, we would all be eating hard bolied egg with everything for months after.
KK is absolutly adorable, though he's going to be very confused when he learns that normally rabbits don't lay eggs!
Lol
